	George E. Essig   (1838-1923)
		SUNSET, MAURICE RIVER, N.J., ca. 1887. Signed and titled in the plate. The Philadelphia Maritime Museum had an Essig exhibition in 1994. This serene view is in southern New Jersey, a primary locale for Essig. He was active in the art life of Philadelphia as a painter, watercolorist, and etcher, but his etchings are very scarce.
